Well, I suppose it's called the rain forest for a reason. Still, I would have been disappointed had we not had some rain here. If anything, it made the trails all the more beautiful - a bit more treacherous of a hike, but an amazing thing to see. It's a shame my camera isn't waterproof; pictures will be limited.
We avoided the rain briefly by stopping at a farm for lunch. Lunch consisted of a simple salad, chicken lightly breaded with a local grain, and was followed by a simple but tasty fruit salad for dessert.
The cloud forest eventually gave way to actual jungle. I find it difficult to put to words everything I've seen on this trip. I hope the pictures I managed today help.
The last mile of our trek today started on a portion of one of the original Inca trails. We are headed to a coffee plantation in a few minutes; imagine I will buy my wife some coffee. ;)
Tomorrow brings us closer still to Machu Picchu, beginning with a 'scenic overlook.'
In short, I'm still having a blast.
