Today we finally entered the clouds. Sure, it's 'fog,' but there's something to be said for reaching the clouds on foot; far different experience from flying.
As we crested the peak of our trail, we witnessed three separate but short avalanches. I tried to take pictures; not sure how they will look. It felt as if the gods we acknowledged yesterday were welcoming us into their domain (or warning us away.)
We took a group picture there and continued down through the mountain pass and on to our lunch stop. For lunch, we had an interesting creamy vegetable soup, pasta, and poached pears in wine sauce...pretty impressive for 'trail' rations. ;)
After lunch we encountered our first bit of rain - not much, just enough to warrant breaking out the gear. We then walked the last couple of hours to arrive at the new lodge. I sat down on what had to be the most comfortable bean bag ever to enjoy some mint tea and later enjoyed a nice relaxing dip in the hot tub.
Right now, we are hearing the beginning of a thunderstorm. Tomorrow we head down to about 9,000 feet as we transition into the rain forest.
In short, I'm having a blast. :)
